Im a mixed media artist who loves to experiment and push creative boundaries. As a former art blogger, I’ve spent years exploring materials and techniques, building not just a collection of specialty supplies but a deep knowledge of how to use them. Whether I’m layering textures or sharing ideas with other artists, my work is all about curiosity, play, and discovery.
During my blogging years I amassed a collection of specialty products from a myriad of creative companies that I did work for and purchased on my own. I’ve worked with amazing artists running design teams and teaching classes at CHA and beyond.
Life happened and I lost my mojo for several years. This included all the content I had built on this very website. Years and years of content pictures and project tutorials gone in a blink. I abandoned my basement studio and left my years of creative work and collections of things to be made into other things to gather dust. It was a difficult period in my life and a constant source of stress. I wanted desperately to get back to my creative roots but couldn’t bring myself to go down there and sort through the creative pieces of my former life. After several years I was forced to move it all or lose it. I wound up moving my entire collection artwork, supplies, etc. into a storage unit so I could buy myself some time and figure out how to sell it off.
One night I was having a chat with a good friend of mine who knew how much my art meant to me and she said the words that led me to create Plucking Daisies Studio. I was lamenting about the situation I was facing…giving up everything I had built, created and collected. She asked me this; “Amy does the stuff mean something to you? And can you afford to keep it for a little longer?” My answer was yes and yes and she said “Then keep it until you figure it out.”
I took those words to heart and a month or so later I came up with the idea to move my heART into a space that could be accessed and used by anyone that wished to be a part of it. I certainly didn’t save all of this “stuff” just for me. I love to create it is my greatest source of joy but providing others with the same opportunity is second to none. I’ve done the work, I’ve collected the products, the knowledge on how to use them, and the odd bits and bobs to create with and that’s what I seek to share.
Have you always wanted to play with the specialty products you see in a craft store? I probably have it. Or just take a gander at some of the things I’ve collected to be made into new things. Got an idea for a project but don’t have the space to let your creativity take flight? I have a space where you can let your creativity fly with reckless abandon. Come explore your creativity at Plucking Daisies Studio.
