I absolutely loved this weeks trigger so inspiring and FUN! My Mother still uses her 70’s Pyrex bowls (they don’t make em’ like they used too!) and I always tell her how the designs remind me of my favorite stamp sets. The bird designs on the bowl helped fuel my latest addiction to bird stamps and allowed me to break out some new stamp sets I scored out of the dollar bin on my most recent trip to the craft store (that’s how they get you…I can’t ever resist a bargain). Without further ado here is my design. Doesn’t it just make you wanna watch Brady Bunch reruns and sing “C’mon Get Happy’!” with the Partridge Family?
The layering of the bowls reminded me of one of my most favorite things….a rainbow! I wanted to keep with the circular theme of the layered bowls and a rainbow seemed perfect! I cut the circles from fun foam to give depth. I edged the circles in white acrylic paint and gave them a coat of distress crackle paint (clear rock candy) to imitate the shiny Pyrex. Once the crackle paint was dry (which took awhile…I couldn’t use my heat gun or it would melt the foam…which I know from experience) I went over it with fired brick and dried marigold distress ink. I had a ball combining stamp sets to create the stamped image. I came pretty close to the original image on the white bowl with a bit of a modern twist. I stamped everything using Colorbox chalk ink and embossed to give shine. The birds and sentiment are from Ink-a-dink-a-doo “Summer Assortment Mini”, swirls and flowers are from Stampendous “Bold Blooms set”. Finally I diecut the flowers from white cardstock to mimic the table-cloth in the background. The centers were punched from colored cardstock with a small sun punch from Fiskars. Originally I was going to trim the rays off but I liked the texture they added so I left them alone. Thanks for stopping by, leave me a comment and let me know what you think. I’d love to here from you. If you haven’t done so yet head on over to the Moxie Fab World to play along! Have a beautiful day!
