The Octopode Factory Storybook Page 3

by Amy Bowerman

I must say that the third time IS the charm when it comes to The Octopode Factory Storybook.  The Rainbow Connection page was one of my favorite art journal pages  I have created on this journey.  Since I decided to make the journal pages first and add the story in later I’ve really had to think outside the box and find creative ways to include it.  The new Journal Flower images from The Octopode Factory helped me do just that!

The Octopode Factory Storybook Page 3

This particular page in my art journal/storybook was filled to the brim with Octopode Factory goodness and left me wondering where, oh where will I squeeze in the storyline?

The Octopode Factory Journal Flowers

Journal Flowers to the rescue!  I really love these images.  I love them so much I had to SUPER size them.  The wide open centers were the perfect place to add the storyline.  The rest of the flowers were colored with a mix of Copic marker and Gellyroll pens.  I Mod Podged the images to heavy chip board after spraying the back of the chip board with Dylusions spray ink.

After the Dylusions had dried I stamped over it in Archival ink with my favorite Hero Arts Text and Flowers stamp.

Here I used a fun, mod daisy brad to attach the Journal Flowers to the page and give them some swivel action.

Interactive Art Journal Page

Ta-Da!  Interactive Art Journal Page!  The flowers swing out to reveal the song lyrics on the rainbow!

The Octopode Factory Storybook Holographic Wings

I forgot to take a picture of the back of the winged hearts from last weeks pageHere’s a fun trick for creating an all over Holographic shimmer:  Cover Grunge paper with Distress Stain Picket Fence, Coat with Ranger Holographic Embossing Powder and heat with heat gun.

The Octopode Factory Storybook

Just wanted to show you a picture of the side of the Octopode Factory Storybook.  I looks like a big giant sandwich full of fun doesn’t it?

If you missed any of the previous pages in my ongoing Art Journal project here is a quick recap for you:

Art Journal Every Day

As always thanks for stopping by.  I do hope you enjoyed the story.  Stay tuned for the next “chapter” :)

Have a blossoming day!

I am so glad you showed the side view of the book. The fun trims and characters escaping out the edges are half the appeal of art journals.

I’m so glad you liked it! I wasn’t sure if I would be able to accomplish the coveted “bits and bobs oozing out of the art journal effect” but since I’ve been adding things after the fact it’s happening! Art Happens! Yeah! :)
