The Octopode Factory Storybook Page 2

by Amy Bowerman

Hellooo!  Did you all miss me?  I’m a bit behind with blogging.  I’ve just gotten back from BlogHer12 and I can’t wait to tell you all about it!  Unfortunately I returned from BlogHer12 with a bug and I am under the weather to say the least.  Just a quick post for me today…that should have been posted on Friday.  On Friday I was in NYC busy meeting awesome chicks at Blogher (and a couple of cool dudes too).

I’ve done some more writing in the Octopode Factory Story book.  If you missed the first page you can check it out here.

The Octopode Factory Story Book Page 2

“The Octopodes were a Fantastical bunch of characters and creatures.  They were drawn with vivid imaginations, which allowed them to create a world you might see only in your dreams.

In their world ANYTHING was possible, simply by imagining it!”

Our theme at TOFF this week is Wings.  The winged hearts are available at The Octopode Factory and were the perfect place to add text.

Ice Resin Journal Hearts

My friend Lynne from Savvy Sisters Studio suggested I try Ice Resin since I’m always complaining about my mishaps with Glossy Accents.  I took her advice and let me tell you I am hooked on this stuff!!

Ice Resin Journal Hearts

Journaling my heart out!

The Octopode Factory images were mounted and sealed on Grunge Paper with Mod Podge.  I then gave the wings a healthy dose of Ice Resin.  I added glitter to the remaining resin and applied it to the hearts.  When the resin was still a bit wet I added sequins, buttons and other miscellaneous doo dads from my stash.

I’ll have more Ice Resin projects and Tales from BlogHer coming up soon.  This picture pretty much sums up how I feel today.  Thank God for Pfizer swag (Robitussin is my hero right now) and an eye mask from Leggett and Platt.

*UPDATE:  I am feeling MUCH better.  Thanks to all for the “Chicken Soup” aka feel better comments :)

Now about that Dress I’m wearing…Yes it is made of Balloons.  I couldn’t resist Donning a Balloon Dress much less one that LIGHTS UP!  They caught me as soon as I walked into The People’s Party at BlogHer.  What can I say I’m a sucker for Balloons…and parties!

Hope you will join us at TOFF this week!

Nap time for me…see you all soon!

I’m loving the red dress – like Renee said too: please share details when you’re feeling better! Also glad to know I’m not the only one who doesn’t quite handle the Glossy Accents well – nice to hear that Ice Resin is an alternative or improvement! Great “page 2” – my fave is what you did with the winged hearts. :)

Ice Resin is a HUGE improvement Laura. Although Glossy Accents can be good for smaller projects I have had a lot of projects ruined by it over time. Ice Resin is a bit pricier and requires more work to “make it work” but in the long run the quality is much MUCH better. Alpha Stamps has it on sale right now :)

Sorry you are under the weather. Summer colds are the worst. I am digging your balloon-like dress. You must give us the scoop on your fashion piece when you are feeling better.

I love, love, love this journal page. I think it’s the cute trees with the owl. I’m a bit daft for owls right now.

Feel better soon,
Renee

I’ve been daft for owls forever I think. When I was in the second grade a boy I had the biggest crush on brought in a baby owl for show and tell that he had rescued from the woods. It had fallen out of a tree and I swear every time I see a preview for Legend of the Guardians I think of him (back then it was more like The Secret of Nihm but you know what I mean). Yeah the balloon dress ain’t that something? They were asking people to don it and tweet a picture…for what I can’t recall. I can’t resist a ballooney toons dress (that lights up) so I was up for the challenge. Until of course they left me hanging and said I couldn’t take it off until I found someone else (crazy enough) to wear it!
