The Creative Box {SNAP! Swap}

by Amy Bowerman

Hello crafty ones!  A few weeks ago my girl Johnnie and I organized a fun little Thrift Store/Stash Swap as a fun “Get to Know you Exercise” before the SNAP! Conference.  What’s SNAP! you ask?   It’s a conference designed with Creatives and DIY’ers in mind!  In one week I will be attending SNAP! and meeting all my favorite crafty chicks, including my new favorite Crafty pal and swap partner Jen Goode of 100Directions.com

The Creative Box {SNAP! Swap}

Jen is an illustrator (and a mighty good one at that) you can check out Jen’s wonderfully whimsical Designs at JGoodeDesigns.com  In addition to being an illustrator extraordinaire, designer for some of the top craft companies, and blogger Jen is also a Mom of 3!!  In other words she’s super woman or Super Crafty Woman!!  (I may have to make her a cape).

Jen and I exchanged several emails to get a feel for what each of us likes to craft with.  We hit it off right away!  The proof is in that box up above…I couldn’t have been more excited to receive this Rainbow covered package unless it was hand delivered by a unicorn….who ran it over a rainbow. :)  Wait till you see what was inside!

The Creative Box {SNAP! Swap}

There was soooo much crafty goodness inside the box Jen sent I felt like a kid on Christmas Day!  I have projects galore lined up thanks to all my new crafty goodies from my dear Mrs. Goode!

These daisies were one of my faves.  I kept vacillating between leaving them white or coloring them.  Color won.  Color ALWAYS wins with me.  True to my roots I’ve been coloring in Rainbow order and using every crayon in the box since 1985!

Here’s a peek at what the Daisies looked like before I gave them the Rainbow treatment.

Buttons…Bling…and Daisies…OH MY!

And here is another little peek inside my box of AWESOME SAUCE!   The Alice look and Find book is like a “Where’s Waldo”…but Wonderland style.  Can you say Score!?  I love the wooden teapot…it’s ready and waiting for an Alice inspired makeover.  Vintage children’s books to add to my collection  and boatloads of buttons, punches, twine, pretty paints…and of course Glitter!  As Jen said in her note to me ….”A Girl can never have too much Glitter!”  True That!

Jen totally nailed my style.  This is exactly the type of stuff I look for at the thrift and pick up at the craft store.  It just goes to show you “Crafty Minds think Alike!”

I used some of the Smooch ink Jen sent and Copic Markers to color the first daisy.

Next, I used my new sidekicks…Distress Paints to color the rest.  (Still obsessed with these paints…I doubt it will ever stop…just so you know :))

Finally, I topped my new and improved Plucking Daisies off with some beautiful blinged out centers.

I know I told you I have big plans for all the items I received in the “Creative Box”….these daisies are a big part of that.  I’m working on a new cutting station for my studio so stay tuned for the big reveal coming soon.  My little rainbow daisies will  be popping up again.

I can’t wait to meet Jen Goode and all the other crafty souls at SNAP!   I’m also excited to see my best buds I’ve never met and roomies Laura and Johnnie.  I used the flap of my creative box from Jen to make this sign.  You know, so they can find me at the airport.  “La-fawn-duh…4 EVA!!”

I may or may not be wearing this shirt.  I may or may not ACTUALLY be training to be a cage fighter (most likely NOT).   I absolutely MAY be a Liger…”cuz  it’s bred for its skills in magic.”

Big Thanks to Jen Goode for the Creative box of Awesome!  You can check out what Jen made with the goodies I sent her HERE.  Want to see what the rest of the SNAP! Swappers are up to?  Check out the link list below :)

Can’t wait for SNAP!...1 week away!  Till then, I’m off to work on my “Nun-chuck skills”

Have an awesome day…Gosh!

Isn’t ND the greatest movie ever? I may have a liger wristband that I wear while NOT working out and a giant liger covering my ribbon drawer because, let’s face it ribbon is magical! It was so great to meet you Eileen and I can’t wait to work with you either :) I will let you know when I finish my project with the new die!

Sounds good Amy. I should have brought some matboard for you- wasn’t thinking- but the die works best with material that is 1/16″ or so. Heavy chipboard works too. Have fun! ttys

So very glad we had the chance to cross paths and I’m so excited you liked the box of creative goodies. It was so fun shopping for your! The stars aligned the day I went shopping.. that Alice in Wonderland might as well have had a sign glued to it with your name on it… beckoning for miles! Looking forward to meeting you next week!
