Skylanders Giants Party Games Part 2

by Amy Bowerman

Hey there!  I am back with the second installment of Skylanders Giants Party games!  If you are planning a Skylanders Giants party for your little guy or gal I’ve got all the games you need to throw an epic birthday bash!  If you missed the first round of Skylanders Giants Party games you can read all about them here.

Skylanders Giants Party Games | @PluckingDaisy #SkylandersGiants #party #DIY

Most of the supplies needed to create these Skylander games can be found at Dollar Tree.  Kid’s parties don’t have to be pricey.  With a little planning and minimal effort you can save the Skylands and your wallet! :)

Trigger Happy’s Pot O’ Gold

For this game you will need:

Black Halloween Cauldrons (Dollar Tree), Plastic Pop-Ball Guns (Dollar Tree Toy Section), and a can of Krylon Metallic Gold

Skylanders Giants Party Games | @PluckingDaisy #SkylandersGiants #party #DIY #Krylon @DollarTree

Trigger Happy’s Golden Guns

Instructions:

Spray the pots and guns with Krylon Metallic Gold.  To keep pop balls from rolling around place them in a bowl and spray.  Allow to dry before turning to coat all sides.

How to Play:

Have the kids shoot or throw golden pop balls into the buckets.  *We had some technical difficulties with the guns (you get what you pay for) but the kids had a “ball” anyway.

Sonic Boom’s Egg Toss

You will need:

Water balloon Slingshots, Plastic Eggs, Krylon Metallic Silver, Krylon Saddle Tan, Tulip Glow Paint (optional), Hot Glue (optional)

Skylanders Giants Party Games | @PluckingDaisy #SkylandersGiants #party #DIY

Sonic Boom’s Egg Toss

Instructions:

Use a Hot Glue gun to create the elemental symbol for “Air” on the handle of your slingshot.  Spray with Krylon Silver.  Lightly spritz plastic eggs (I used recycled easter eggs) with Krylon Saddle Tan.  Add dots of Tulip Glow Paint (optional)

How to Play:

Launch eggs at Chompy to knock him down (Click here for Chompy Tutorial)

* The Kids got very creative with Sonic Boom’s Egg Toss.  Some used the sling shot, others threw the eggs one by one and some even launched the entire bucket of eggs with one shot.

Terrafin’s Mega Belly Flop

You will need:

Rubber Sharks (Dollar Tree toy section), Large Bucket or bin *I used my son’s old water table pirate ship

Skylanders Giants Party Games | @PluckingDaisy #SkylandersGiants #party #DIY

Terrafin’s Mega Belly Flop

How to play:

Stand back and toss sharks into water filled container.  See how big of a splash you can make!

Terrafin’s Mega Belly Flop

*This game was hysterical to watch!  We got some great shots of the sharks flying through the air.  (Unfortunately I’m making a silly face in every photo so you will have to use your imaginations)

Camo’s Melon Smash

You will need:

Balloons (Dollar Tree), Foil shreds (Dollar Tree), High Bouncers (Dollar Tree), Duct Tape, Krylon Green Spray Paint, Newspaper, flour, salt, wax paper and Glue.

Camo’s Melon Smash

If  you are having a summer party or live in a warm climate area you can use water balloons or just plain balloons for this game.  Our party was held in New England during November so water balloons were out of the question.  I wanted to give the melons realistic smashing action so I created a mini pinata for each kid.

If you are a mom that likes to go the extra mile these watermelon mini pinatas are the way to go!  Go on channel your inner Gallagher and lets smash some melons!

Skylanders Giants Party Games | @PluckingDaisy #SkylandersGiants #party #DIY #pinat

Mini Pinata’s

Mini Pinata Instructions:

Blow your balloons up half-way.  Mix together 1 part water, 1 part Glue, 1 part flour and a pinch of salt.  Continue mixing until your mixture is the consistency of pancake batter (add more water to thin and flour to thicken).  Line a bowl with wax paper.  Dip newspaper (torn into strips) into the paper mache mixture and scrape the excess off with your fingers.  Layer strips of newspaper on balloon until covered but leave tail end exposed.  Hang by tail to dry for 24 hours.

*For a full Pinata Tutorial click here.

Camo’s Melon Smash

Once your mini pinatas are dry snip off the tail end with scissors.  Insert a high bouncer into the newly formed hole (this will add weight to help with the smashing and will prevent your any dings and dents before hand).  Stuff with foil shreds.  Close hole with Duct Tape.  Color with Krylon Green Spray paint.

How to play:

Hand out the melons and let the kids go Gallagher on them!

Legendary Treasure Scavenger Hunt

It’s not a Skylanders Party without a Legendary Treasure Scavenger hunt.   After collecting gems and small prizes during the games my little portal masters were due for an upgrade!  I dressed up as Persephone the upgrade granting fairy, blue wig and all…sorry no pictures :(  The kids were sent around the yard in search of “Story Scrolls” containing clues of where to find me and their “upgrades”   When They finally found me I was sitting on a treasure chest filled with swords, shields, and glow things from Dollar tree and the dollar section at Target.

You will need:

Brown Paper (Dollar Tree), Duct Tape or Foil Tape, a Cooler, Prizes (Dollar Tree)

Legendary Treasure Scavenger Hunt

Legendary Treasure Scavenger Hunt

How to Make a Treasure Chest

Instructions:

Wrap a Cooler with Brown Paper (with one roll of Dollar Tree Brown Paper I wrapped this huge cooler and still had enough to make stamped wrapping paper for everyone’s Christmas gifts!).  I added embellishments with foil tape and the Tim Holtz Hardware Findings Sizzix Die.  Fill with Prizes.

 Story Scroll Scavenger Hunt

To create the story scrolls I used cream card stock edged with Distress ink and tied with twine

Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets I could add to my blog
that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates. I’ve
been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was
hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this.

Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to
your new updates.

A great eye-catching picture with a direct link to a product can have great conversion if it is what a consumer is looking for.

For instance, on Facebook you can create
a poll, unlike most sites. Yes, I just won hypocrite of the internet universe awards with that previous sentence.
How it functions and why it can be effective in some situations
and not in others. You do not need to have too many pictures,
just a few should do the job. It comes with an internal
memory of 42 MB however, by utilising the integrated card slot which is micro –
SD format, the units memory can be expanded up to 16
GB. I suggest keeping your personal profile and business profile separate,
that way you’re weekend BBQ photos aren’t being sent around Facebook to your
business contacts. The following are some tips to maximize visitors to a Facebook page:.
Don’t create an exciting coupon offer, without being online
to help customers get that offer. Now, sit down and write a letter to this target customer or client.

Profollica Best Treatment for Men improves hair body and
suppleness and protect against harmful sun damage and itchy and scalp conditions.
Traction Alopecia (often caused by excessive or
tight braiding or ponytails). These products work the best in younger men who have only begun to lose their hair, and in those whose androgenetic alopecia is still in the early
stages where hair is thinning but continuing to grow.

Hi again! I’m trying to plan my son’s Skylander party. I need an “undead element” game.
I didn’t see it written anywhere, but what did you do at the “Ghost Roaster’s Skull Charge?”

Reply

12 Amy Bowerman February 15, 2013 at 12:10 pm

Hey Kivara!

Whoops! I knew I forgot something! For the undead element I did “Ghost Roasters Skull Charge”. I used plastic skulls from the dollar store and had the kids throw them at a chompy…lots of throwing and knocking things down is a little boys dream come true!

Thanks for letting me know I will update the post ASAP :)

I love all your ideas/decorations!! My son really wants to have a Skylander themed birthday party but Im having the hardest time finding Skylander Mylar balloons & I was curious if you we’re able to find them, if so where? Thanks

Hi Natalie!

Glad you liked the party ideas :) I searched high and low for Mylar balloons with no luck. But fear not! You can easily add balloons to your party and make them Skylander themed with a Sharpie. I bought balloons in each of the 8 element colors and drew the element designs on with a black Sharpie. They don’t have to be perfect (mine were not but my son loved them just the same). Here is a link to the site I saw the balloons on http://bktribe.blogspot.ca/2012/05/skylanders-birthday-party.html . The only thing I did differently was to color the designs in so they were nice and bold.

Hope this helps!

I bet you could also use the Elmer’s Painters pens that I can only find at Walmart. They come in white too and stand out great. Would probably work on mylar as well.

Love the tips for your parties, Amy. Thanks!

Wow! You’re so creative. I’ve just decided to have a Skylander Party for my son’s 8th Birthday. This is great! I’m not as creative as you but I’m going to try to repliacte some of your games. How far in advanced can you make Watermelon Pinata? Thank you so much for sharing.

The sooner the better! You will need to leave at least a day for drying in between layers.

Wishing your son the best 8th birthday EVER!
