After creating my first flower hair accessory my paper flower making has taken a new direction. I wanted to test out the durability of my paper flower hair clips and made a tester to wear about town. There has been an overwhelming response to these flowers just from people seeing them in my hair and photo’s I’ve posted on social networking sites. I had to beg the hubs to take me to the flea market this weekend so I could hunt for vintage buttons for my new-found paper crafting passion…hair clips! I scored a BIG old bin filled with vintage beauties….Check it
This was my first time going to the flea market….oh my treasures untold!! Tag sales just won’t do for me anymore. I’m still digging through my bin of buttons and finding more and more loveliness! You would have thought I had found a treasure chest of gold the way I was clutching it. Buttons are my pirate treasure arrgh!! I wanted to make each flower clip unique. I kept swapping out different vintage buttons until I found the perfect one. This week at the CSI project it’s all about Accessories….I’m in!
Here are some Closeups of each Paper Flower Hair Clip…and those beautiful vintage buttons!
I was going for a Dahlia look with this one. I love Dahlias and thought someone might like a lovely Blue Dahlia flower for their hair. I absolutely love this clear vintage beauty of a button. The shape, the etching, the way the patterned paper shows through like a kaleidoscope. I fussed with a bunch of button centers for this flower clip and this was the vintage button that made the cut.
I modeled this hair clip after another of my favorite flowers….the Zinnia. I love how the shell button changes color in the light! There is also some etching around the center of the button, I couldn’t resist choosing it as the flower center. To top it off I added a glass bead for a little extra sparkle!
It’s no secret that I like daisies…I named my site after them. This is my Gerber Daisy hair clip. I went with an etched brown vintage button for the center here. I wanted to stay true to the natural look of a Gerber Daisy.
This is my favorite flower clip of them all! Look at that gorgeous button! Such stunning sparkle don’t you think? This one and the Gerber Daisy I kept for myself and wear them quite often. The rest were given away as gifts in a customized gift box that you can see here. After giving the rest out I had to make more because EVERYONE seemed to want one. I tried out some different color combos with the next batch if you would like to check those out you can see them here.
Thanks for visiting today…I hope to see you again soon…l…which one is your favorite?
