Hello again! I have another Craft Pumpkin joining the party today…and with that some exciting news! I won’t keep you in suspense so here goes….I’m the newest designer for The Octopode Factory!! If you have yet to discover the quirky coolness that is the Octopodes RUN don’t walk on over to Lily’s Etsy shop! Here’s what I created with yet another fabulous Octopode image…
The craft pumpkin was spray painted with Krylon Make it stone metallic spray paint. This stuff is like rocks in a can! And yes it totally ROCKS!! The stone kind of matches Sally’s skin tone or is she actually made of stone? I can’t remember. I gave it a quick blast of Krylon Glitter Blast for extra bling. Sally was colored with Copics and Mod Podged to the surface of the craft pumpkin.
I recreated the patches from her dress with Core’dinations color core card stock. Therefore, this Nightmare-ish craft pumpkin will be entered in the Core’dinations Color challenge and the color challenge at Inspiration Emporium. I have been dying to play with Core card stock so it didn’t take much for me to fork over my wallet when I saw it at Michael’s the other day. Not to mention it comes in a rainbow of colors created by none other than the GOD of grunge himself…Tim Holtz! Tim Holtz +Rainbow Colors…I’m in!!
On the cover of the paper pad there are suggestions for techniques to try. Techniques are like Lay’s Potato chips to me….can’t ever have just one. I ripped, I sanded, I embossed with Sizzix Alterations, I stamped, I painted and then I Mod Podged. After that I sat back and admired my handiwork only to find that it was not complete yet.
This is when I got the idea to add the wire stitching. Sometimes my creative genius becomes the bane of my existence…this was one of those times. Each stitch and staple was cut, bent, hole punched, glued, and hammered into the pumpkin piece by painstaking piece!
If you’re wondering if this took hours off my life…it did…but when all was said and done I decided to throw another hour to the crafting Gods and do a cross stitch pattern on the top
I have to admit I have had a hard time getting into the spirit of my favorite holiday due to life events but these pumpkins are helping me get my Mojo back for sure! I’ve gone craft pumpkin crazy and am having so much fun getting my Halloween on I think I’ll enter this one as well at The Haunted Design House “Pumpkin Head Challenge” (Thanks for helping me get back into my ghoulish glory minions!).
So this is the second installment in the Octopode Factory inspired pumpkin patch…can you guess who will be joining the group next? If you haven’t seen the Edward Scissorhands pumpkin yet click here.
Till next time friends!
Have a spooky day!
