Hello friends! Me and DH celebrated our anniversary this week. We were married in St. Lucia at Anse Chastanet and I love to reminisce about the clear blue waters and tropical hills of St. Lucia on our anniversary. In the middle of my yearly daydream I realized I had never posted about the Message in a Bottle wedding favors I made for the big day. I figured reliving the moment of making my wedding favors would be just as nice as dreaming about snorkeling in the carribean…well almost.
These Message in a Bottle favors are super easy to make with only a few supplies. If you can pour sand into a funnel and tie your shoes…you can do this…thats how easy folks! You don’t have to reserve the message in a bottle just for your wedding either. These make great beach party invitations, a cute way to display an announcement, a note to someone special, or even as a home decor item. The possibilities are truly endless!
How to make a “Message in a Bottle”
You will need:
Glass Bottles (available at most Craft stores for $1-2)
Art Sand
Small Shells
Sea Glass
Dried Starfish (optional)
Raffia/Ribbon
Charms (optional)
Message of your choice
Start by funneling the sand into your bottle. Not too much though…you only need about 1.5 in.
Select a mix of shells and sea glass to place on top of the sand. *Small shells work best. If you don’t like the way the shells and sea glass fall gently shake the bottle to rearrange them.
Next, find a quote you like or type out a personal message. Roll it up and tie with raffia. *Make sure you roll it tight enough so the raffia doesn’t slip off when you place your message in the bottle .
Finally, top your message in a bottle off with a cork and tie with ribbon and raffia. I attached these fun charms from Blue Moon Beads to my bottles with Raffia. They are from the enchanted planet collection which has many coastal themed charms. I was able to personalize the bottles a bit by selecting a different charm for each guest
That was such a great day! If you ever get the chance to visit St. Lucia Anse Chastanet is wonderful! Check out Jade Mountain while you are there it’s like living in a dream…at least for a few days
Thanks for taking this walk down memory lane with me today!
