As I look back on 2013 I realize that I have accomplished so much. Everything I wanted to do I DID. That being said I could never have done any of it without all of you my dear readers and friends. I’m not going to do a “Best of 2013” wrap up with my most popular posts. Instead I want to do a Thank-you post for the wonderful people I have met this past year (this includes YOU :)) and show you the projects that were inspired by them.
This is my version of an inspirational Calendar, an uplifting look back at the past 12 months and the inspiring friends I’ve made without whom these projects would cease to be.
In the beginning of 2013 I made it my New Years Resolution to grow as an Artist by exploring new things, taking classes, learning new techniques and going outside of my comfort zone. I accomplished this goal by taking classes with Marjie Kemper.
Marjie is an incredible teacher and I have learned so much from her and her colorful style. She helped me take my art journaling and artistic style in general to new heights. I accomplished my goal of artistic growth and then some. I will be teaching my first class at CHA next week and embarking on a teaching tour this spring. Thanks Marjie!
This project was very popular on Plucking Daisies this year but that isn’t why I have Included it. Because of this project I met some great friends who continue to inspire me with their amazing creativity and keep my creative mojo going with their thoughtful comments.
Thank-you so much for the artful inspiration and friendship across the miles Anita Houston (Artful Maven), Anne Redfern (Redanne), Jenny “Buttons” Marples (Pushing the Right Buttons), Dee in NH, and Linda the Funkie Junkie who keeps me well stocked with creative supplies!
The month of March goes to the ladies behind Blueprint Social. They took a chance on a small blogger back in 2012 by including me in my first campaign which resulted in my being published for the first time! This year I created one of my largest Paper flower arrangements to date for a campaign with Darice and David Tutera Bridal.
This Thank-you goes to someone I knew well before April, but April was the month I got to meet her IRL even though it felt like I’ve known her forever! To my friend and mentor Johnnie Lanier of Saved by Love Creations I give the most Mahoosive thank-you of all for without her I wouldn’t be half the blogger I am today!
Girl thanks for talking me off the ledge countless times, from throwing in the blogging towel, keeping me laughing, sharing your knowledge and most importantly being a great friend. Oh and also for that time I tried to be “tech savvy” and accidentally deleted all my thumbnails that you had to fix even though you were super busy.
To my Little Man who helped me create some of my most popular posts this year by “Lending a Hand”.
You always tell me I’m “The Greatest Artist EVER” well, I’m telling you I am the Luckiest Mom EVER!
To my son’s 1st Grade Teacher who encouraged me on and offline. My best work is always created when making art for someone special. This piece was created for a very special teacher indeed!
PS Thanks for proving to me that people outside of the Craft community ACTUALLY read this blog
The month of July was one of the highlights of my year and I owe it all to Eileen Hull! Because of her my longtime dream of attending the CHA show aka “Wonka’s Chocolate factory for crafters” became a reality! Not only did I get to attend, I was demoing in the Sizzix booth…wow!
We’ve since formed a great friendship and have even started an artistic movement with The Artists on the Block. We’ll be returning to CHA next week to teach a class and launch the ATB movement. Big things are in store for 2014! Thanks so much Eileen!
After returning from CHA I felt like I had the inside track on all the latest and greatest products. I wrote a review on one of my favorite products seen at CHA Distress Glitter. This review got mad love from Ranger Ink which meant a lot to me since as you all may have guessed I’m a HUGE Ranger ink fan
Thanks Ranger Ink for all the Glitter love and shout outs…you made my year and my projects super sparkly!
For the month of September and pretty much every month since I started this blog I have to thank my Sister and Brother-in-law for putting up with kitschy Gnome gifts. They graciously except glittered, mod podged, fabric paint t-shirts and more Gnome art for the sake of this blog.
I know you guys hate gnomes but they must be growing on you by now right? In any event my friends and fans here at Plucking Daisies LOVE the gnomes so be ready, more gnomes are coming your way in 2014
In October I had the amazing opportunity to attend Art Is You in Stamford, CT. While I was there I got to spend some time with the incredibly talented ladies of Stencil Girl!
Eileen and I have since collaborated with the Stencil Girl Gals on The Artist’s on the Block and the creative fireworks that went off lead me to believe that our meeting was destiny! Looking forward to working with Stencil Girl in 2014!
My Skylanders Party Post have by far been the most popular posts EVER on Plucking Daisies.
Here’s to the “Party Animals” out there. This thank-you goes out to all the Moms who emailed , commented and linked back to the Skylanders Party Posts. Your kind words made my day on many occasions and provided endless encouragement for me to keep doing what I do. Thank-you!
My December post was actually a post from 2012. However, I retook the photo with a DSLR camera which gave new life to a forgotten project. These bottle brush trees were my most pinned project of 2013.
Big thanks to all of you for supporting Plucking Daisies by visiting, commenting and sharing. I wish you all the best in 2014!
Happy New Year!
