I created my heart bags with the aptly titled “Heart Bag Score Boards Die” from Eileen Hull’s “From the Heart” Sizzix collection.  You can find a full tutorial on how to assemble your heart bags HERE.  Today I will be sharing some new and creative ways to embellish the heart bags for all your “Heartfelt” gifting need

Gifts from the Heart {Heart Bag Tutorial} | Pluckingdaisies.com I created the heart bags pictured with Brenda Walton Papers from K&Company, vintage ribbons and trims,  Xyron Adhesive and Sticky-Back Canvas Stamped with Stampotique stamps and others from my collection.

I’m hosting Mother’s day brunch this year and wanted to send the other moms home with a little something

Gifts from the Heart {Heart Bag Tutorial} | Pluckingdaisies.com This floral heart bag holds packages of seeds and is adorned with an oh so proper stamped message from Stampotique “Keep calm, smile and create something beautiful!”

To sweeten the deal I’ve included a pretty potted plant and a pair of gardening gloves.

This little lovely boasts a lace wrapped handle adorned with Sticky-back canvas stamped text stars also from Stampotique.

I’ve stuffed it full of flavored teas…perfect for sipping in the garden.

How to Make Heart Favor Bags

You can find a full tutorial on how to create these heart favor bags HERE.  Today I’ll be sharing how to create a ribbon wrapped handle and embellish your favor bags with various trims.

Supplies:

  • Heart Bag Scoreboards Die by Eileen Hull for Sizzix
  • Scrapbook paper/cardstock
  • Chipboard
  • Favorite Stamps (I used Stampotique)
  • Sticky Back Canvas
  • Archival Ink
  • Ribbon
  • Xyron Adhesive

Creating a Handle

STEP 1: Cut a length of Chipboard 9 x 3/4 in in length

STEP 2:  Cut a length of ribbon long enough to cover the front and back side of handle.  Run ribbon through Xyron 1.5 in create-a-sticker and adhere to chipboard handle.

 Embellishing Heart Favor Bags

STEP 1:  Stamp scrap or die cut pieces of Sticky-back canvas with favorite stamps (I used Stampotique) in archival ink (sepia).

STEP 2:  Add stamped sticky-back canvas to favor bags.  Here I have added sticky-back canvas stars to the lace wrapped handle.

Use your scraps to create custom gift tags!

Coupled with Tim Holtz Idea-ology Distress Stained Trims these tags make these gifts from the heart even more meaningful!

I adore this quote from Georgia O’Keeffe “A Flower touches everyone’s heart.”  I wholeheartedly agree…don’t you?

I hope you enjoy creating these heart bags as much as I have.  They truly are a gift from the heart :)

Thanks Donna! You should get your hands on some of that sticky-back canvas. I can only imagine what kinds of crafty magic the “Cricut Queen” could create with it :)
