Flower Hair Accessory

by Amy Bowerman

I was so happy to hear that the Tuesday Trigger from last week had been extended. I was pretty booked up finishing commissioned party decorations I just couldn’t squeeze it in. This past week seemed to fly by as well, although I was pretty wrapped up creating this collage.

Perty and Flirty

I sooo want this coat!! I love yellow and this is so unique and fun! As soon as I saw this it just beckoned me to make a paper flower arrangement. Those black buttons are reminiscent of the charcoal colored centers of a Black Eyed Susan…and the soft, subtle ruffles…look like unfurling rose petals. On my last trip to Michael’s I saw the “Lemon Flower Stack” by DCWV and picked it up specifically for this challenge. Lemon Flower? Come on! All signs were pointing in a floral direction. Finally Sunday a supposed day of rest and the last day to enter the challenge yet I had all the flowers cut and inked but nowhere near finishing an arrangement. What’s a girl to do? Try something new of course! A friend of mine has urged me to make Hair accessories out of my flowers (apparently they are all the rage these days), I decided to give it a whirl.

All I need now is that coat and I’m ready for a night on the town!! Definitely glad I gave making hair accessories a shot. I also tried something else I haven’t done before….

Flowers in her hair….Flowers Everywhere!

I added leaves! Been meaning to do it for ages I just always run out of time. It’s a lot easier when working with quantities of one paper flower as opposed to 3 dozen or so….man that would be a lot of leaves….might need a rake!

Thanks for stopping by today I appreciate your visits :)

I found your blog today. You have some absolutely lovely creations! I am very interested in these flowers as hair pieces. I have a group of girls that I am mentoring and we are trying to come up with ideas for get togethers where we make items for those on our Christmas lists. These would be fab. I already make many of my own paper flowers but I am wondering what you are coating them with to make that shiny texture over them. Any help would be much appreciated. You have a new fan. I will be watching your blog for more wonderful creativity!!! Thanks.
