Featured Product Friday: Tim Holtz Idea-ology Tissue Tape

by Amy Bowerman

I’m happy to announce that I am kicking off a brand new weekly feature here at Plucking Daisies.  Welcome to Featured Product Friday!  Every Friday I will be featuring a crafty product that I’ve created with.  I’ll be sharing helpful links and videos from around the web as well as a Plucking Daisies style tutorial using the featured product.  At the end of the post there will be a link up that never closes for you to share your projects created with the featured product.  Let’s face it most craft products are like blue jeans…they never go out of style!

Allow me to introduce you to the first Featured Product Friday crafting MUST HAVE…

Tim Holtz Idea-ology Tissue Tape!

Tissue Tape has been around for a bit but it just arrived at Studio Plucking Daisies a few months ago leaving me saying “Where have you been all my life?”

Featured Product Friday: Tim Holtz Idea-ology Tissue Tape | @PluckingDaisy I’ve always had a love hate relationship with tape.  I love how easy it is to peel and stick but I hate how it gets stuck in a dispenser, or folds onto itself, and most of all how hard it is to get a fresh roll going ( if it doesn’t come with that pull tab thing).  All of these issues made me jaded.  Perhaps that is why I waited so long to try Tim’s Tissue Tape.  That and the piles of spent tape runners and wads of matted Washi tape cluttering my studio from Tape crafts gone wrong (Sounds like a bad reality TV show).

I can assure you this is NOT the case with Tissue tape.  It’s very forgiving, easy to use, reposition and comes in a variety of prints and patterns that can be altered with your favorite inks!  Tissue Tape is so easy to use I can even do it!  Seriously, a tape that holds up to my abuse is a real keeper…trust.

Don’t take my word for it, see from the man himself Tim Holtz.  This is a great video that shows just how versatile Tissue Tape is and what makes it so darn special!

Customize Craft Tools with Tissue Tape

Here’s a little project a whipped up this morning with the Tissue Tape Elements Set.  I finally put my tired old heat tool out to pasture and traded it in for a Ranger Heat it Tool.  I wanted my Heat gun to be as funky as the art it’s going to help me create so I customized it with Tissue Tape (and Rainbows).  Seriously, EVERYONE should customize their craft tools!  Let’s start a revolution! :)

If other people can bedazzle their jeans I can bedazzle my craft tools…just sayin.

I really love the variety of the Elements Tissue Tape set.  This is one of the new releases from the Winter CHA show.  I love this black ruler tape!

This Harlequin border is nice and thin…perfect for detailing!  In case you were wondering Tissue Tape is super easy to load.  I completed my craft tool customization project in less than 10 min!  Switching out rolls of Tissue Tape is as easy as falling off a log stool.   Don’t worry about having to “Find the End” either, it comes up just as easily.

If you accidentally fold the tape onto itself (Like I did while taking this photo) you can set it straight without breaking a nail…or a sweat!  The Tissue Tape dispenser moves nicely along curved surfaces while keeping your lines nice and straight.   I can barely walk a straight line let alone tape one, so this is a HUGE plus for me!

Do you think it was easy to get that tape in between the lines on the back of the heat gun?  It was with Tissue Tape and it’s trusty sidekick the Tissue Tape Dispenser…sounds like a bona fide super hero name no?

Last but certainly NOT least, my favorite one in the Tissue Tape bunch the pointy finger.  This is one of my favorite Stampers Anonymous stamps from Tim Holtz so I was pretty stoked when he released it on a roll of Tissue Tape.

Speaking of rolls, more things should come on a roll.  Don’t you think?

Cool idea to do a product of the week! Smart cookie! I love tissue and washi tape, and have recently purchased a dispenser that houses many at once. Problem is, I need another as I have too many tapes…lol! I love your heat gun all decked out! Mine is so filthy! Cool idea!!!

What?? A multi tape roller? What is this magic you speak of? I think I NEED it! I know all about the filthy heat gun the Ranger gun was fresh out of the box and was instantly soiled as soon as I touched it :) It’s only a matter of time before it’s too embarrassing for photos…like the one it replaced. #CraftGirlProblems

Great post Amy!!!! I love tissue tape and have quite the collection myself. I store mine in a suitcase and sometimes forget about it. Out of site, out of mind kinda thing. I need to go and pull my tape out and use it. I would love to see you feature a post about embossing powders. I have several myself, but have often wondered if there is a huge difference between them. Just a thought. Have a great weekend!

Thanks Michelle! I have my tissue and washi tape thrown in a drawer for “Sticky stuff” so I can totally relate to the out of sight out of mind conundrum. Embossing Powders is a great idea! I love embossing but have never compared all of my powders side by side….I’m on it!
