Fall Paper Flowers for Hair

by Amy Bowerman

For the past few days I’ve been kicking around  new design ideas for my paper flower hair clips.  A local boutique here in CT has ordered half a dozen from me and the owner specified “fall” colors.  I must admit I was a bit stumped on how to work in the fall colors into my design until I came across the Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab.   Once again Cath has gotten my mojo going with another fab Trigger photo!  Check it…

Inspired by the Trigger photo I was able to come up with just the right color scheme for my Fall paper flower hair clip collection (sheesh that’s a mouthful…no?).  The reds, greens, browns and orange really caught my eye.  Working with those colors and a few dashes of blue, I created this fun fall collection. Blue is my favorite color and I rarely complete a project with out it.   Click here to see some of my earlier work created during my “Blue phase”.

Flowers for Fall

Aren’t these fun?  I wish I could keep them but I  have to pay the bills some how :)  At least I know they will be going to a good home…and someone else will get to sing “Flowers in her hair…” ( I can’t help humming that tune when I rock a flower hair clip).

Holiday hair with flair

I thought these would be perfect for the Holidays.  Don’t they look like Poinsettia?  The petals on top are Paper Smooches digital stamps which were colored with Copic Markers.  All of the buttons on the hair clips are from my vintage button collection.

Hippie Chick Hair

I found this awesome Hippie Chick stack from DCWV  in my stash and the colors and patterns were perfect for fall.  Aren’t these flowers fun?  You can’t help but feel like a “Flower Child” while wearing one of these!  I spend a lot of time selecting the “perfect” button.  I try many varieties before finding the “perfect” match.  These vintage beauties fit right in don’t they?

Hippie “Chic”

I love the vibrant colors and patterns on this DCWV paper the blend of orange and brown, and blue and navy work so well for fall.  What do you think of these vintage buttons?  Quite the flea market find eh?  I saved the best button for last.  Isn’t the blue one stunning!  It was hard for me to part with it but like I said before I’m big on finding the “perfect” match and this is a match made in Hippie Chick heaven!

Thanks for checking out my Fall paper flower hair clips!  I love hearing your thoughts so don’t be shy ..let me know what you think 😉

Till next time friends <3
