When my sister decided on an Elephant theme for her baby shower I was delighted! Who doesn’t love an adorable little pachyderm? Sure there are plenty of Elephant themed baby shower options available for purchase, but being a DIY type of gal I wanted to make her Shower extra special by creating everything myself. Here you will see how to create an Elephant themed Baby Shower with one stamp set from Hero Arts and a paper stack from DCWV.
Elephant Baby Shower Invitations
I just love this “Elephants” set from Hero Arts. I used it to create invitations, inserts and envelopes using Archival ink in Sepia. All 50 of the Baby Shower invitations, inserts and envelopes were hand stamped. Hand cramps ensued but it was well worth it!
Elephant Baby Shower Book Basket
One of the inserts included with the invitations asked shower guests to bring a favorite children’s book for the book basket. I created this double-sided Book Basket Pennant Banner from a vintage children’s book. Click the link for all the details on how to create one of your own and see how the elephant stamps were incorporated.
Elephant Baby Shower Cake Toppers
My sister wanted a variety of cakes for her shower. I was able to create unique cake toppers for each cake using the Hero Arts Elephant stamps and the Tim Holtz Hanging Sign die from Sizzix.
A flavor for everyone! The Red Velvet Cake is my personal favorite.
Elephant Baby Shower Centerpieces
As an avid paper flower maker I often give my arrangements as gifts. Baby showers are no exception. Since it was my sister I created several arrangements for her to use as centerpieces for her Baby shower. I found the perfect paper stack to match her color scheme for the shower and nursery…DCWV’s “Green Stack”.
Elephant Baby Shower Pennant Banner
Using the DCWV “Green Stack” I created a custom pennant banner for my sister to use as a baby shower decoration and later a nursery decoration. See all the details on the Baby Shower Pennant Banner here.
Elephant Baby Shower Games
A fun and useful Baby Shower activity is to have guests fill out cards with “Advice” for the new mom. We did this at my shower and my cards wound up in a shoe box somewhere. For my sister’s baby shower I wanted to create an album for her to keep her cards and flip through them when she needed some good advice. You can find more details and instructions on the New Mom Mini Album and advice cards here.
Elephant Baby Shower Favors
Elephants, Elephants…Everywhere! It’s not an Elephant Baby Shower without Elephant Favors, Elephant tags, and Elephant baby shower games. I altered a clothes pin to adorn a jar full of M&M’s …a guessing game where the winner takes all Baby Shower Bingo is always more fun with prizes…complete with Elephant gift tags. For baby shower favors we made Elephant cookies almost too cute to eat!
Baby Keepsake Box
I make art but rarely of the edible variety so I made the tags ahead of time for my sis to place on the favors. While I was at it I created this Keepsake box to put them in. It is now being used to hold my Nephews tiny treasures. Click the link for instructions on how to make this Baby Keepsake Box and Favor Gift Tags.
Elephant Baby Shower Laundry Basket
This was a last-minute spur of the moment thing, but the day before the shower I spied this laundry basket at Home Goods. It was the perfect color to match the nursery and I knew I could turn it into an extra special gift with a little tweaking. The first thing to do was remove the gaudy bow and replace it with a custom Mama and Baby elephant patch. I used the Hero Arts Elephant stamps on vintage paper and mounted it on grunge paper. I sealed the patch with Beacon Decoupage medium and hand stitched it with Brown embroidery floss.
Pennant Banner for Baby’s Room
Doesn’t the pennant banner look darling in my Nephew’s nursery? I was so pleased with how it came out.
It was a lovely shower and can you believe all of this was accomplished with just one stamp set and paper stack? Not only that but most of the items made for the Elephant Baby shower have been used to decorate the nursery or saved as keepsakes. If you plan you too can create Baby Shower Invitations, Baby Shower Decorations, Baby Shower Games and some memorable keepsakes with only a few key supplies. The greatest reward of all is seeing the joy on the recipients face when they see all the handmade items. You’ll feel pretty good too in knowing that you have crafted a Baby Shower that will never be forgotten!
Have an Elephant-tastic day!
