DIY Gift Card Holders

by Amy Bowerman

Hey everyone!  Today I’m sharing how to create DIY Gift Card Holders.  Gift cards are a popular choice when it comes to gift giving today.  Not only do they make it easy for their recipients to get “the perfect gift”,  they are also easy to come by with nearly every retailer you can imagine offering gift cards that are available almost anywhere!

What’s not easy?  Wrapping them.  Sure, there are gift card holders available but they tend to be on the pricey side.  Today I’m going to show you how to create unique gift card holders for a variety of occasions.

To create my gift card holders I used the Eileen Hull Seed Packet die.  I adore this die and use it constantly to create cute gift card holders like these!

My paper of choice when creating gift card holders is Core’dinations Kraft Core Shattered from the Tim Holtz collection.  I love this paper because of its vintage style crackle texture, variety of colors and the ability to add embossing!  When embossing with this fabulous paper just sand the raised edges to reveal the Kraft paper core!

*I highly recommend Core’dinations Sand It! kits.  The sanding block and dust busting buffer cloth are top-notch!

Here’s another lovely color of Shattered Coredinations with a pretty paper flower created with Eileen Hull’s Heart Petal Flower.

Just look at that embossing, isn’t it lovely?  The embossing folder I used is also from Eileen Hull…the Rosebuds and Seed Packet Set.

This gift card holder fit a Starbucks Gift Card with the paper backing still on it!  It was the perfect complement to the Paper Flower Basket I made for my son’s teacher last week.  You can find my Paper Flower Basket tutorial HERE.

I created a similar floral gift card holder for my Mom on Mother’s Day using Eileen Hull’s Fringe Flower and Leaves dies.  I even created my own gift card with the Sizzix ATC die.

Here’s a manly version of the “Seed Packet Gift Card Holder” I created for my son’s baseball coach.  You can find a full tutorial HERE.

With a few extra embellishments I transformed the Seed Packet into the perfect gift card holder for the School Bus driver!  You can find a full tutorial on how to create this School Bus Gift Card Holder HERE.

As you can see there are many, many ways to use the Seed Packet die.  If you are a “gifter” of gift cards it’s definitely one you will want to add to your collection…IMHO :)  Every person I’ve given one of these DIY gift card holders to has loved them so much I didn’t even feel guilty about not including a card!  That makes me happy.  I love to make people happy.  I also like to save money by NOT buying pricey gift card holders and cards!  You see, It pays to DIY!

It does pay to DIY, you are so right. I remember that school bus – such fun! The die looks very versatile, the manly gift card is lovely and I absolutely the gift card done with Eileen’s embossing folder and Tim’s shattered paper! Anne x
