Crazy for Daisy Crafts

by Amy Bowerman

It’s no secret that I am crazy for daisies.  With a name like “Plucking Daisies”  how can you not be?  As you may know I just got back from a fabulous weekend at BlogHer12.  Tomorrow I will be sharing some pics and links to all the awesome bloggers I met  but today I want to focus on the things I made specifically for BlogHer.  Daisies of Course!

First up…a Shrink Plastic Twitter Necklace complete with my logo and Twitter handle!

Plucking Daisies Shrink Plastic Twitter Necklace

I saw a lot of super cute Twitter necklaces on Instagram in the eleventh hour before BlogHer.  With no time to order one I decided to make my own.  Besides what kind of DIY blogger would I be if I didn’t…well…DIY!

Plucking Daisies Coloring Shrink Plastic

I’ve fallen in love with Gellyroll pens on shrink plastic…try it and you will see what I mean :)

Plucking Daisies Twitter Handbag Charm

This was originally meant to be a necklace but the colors were too dark so I made another one and used this for my handbag.  It doubled as a safety feature.  In case I lost my handbag whoever found it could tweet me to let me know (luckily this did NOT happen).  I’ve been on a roll with Shrink Plastic projects lately if you missed any please check out the Comic Book Cuff Bracelet, Octopode Factory Charm Bracelet, and Rainbow Brite Bird house for more techniques and ideas using shrink plastic.  Go ahead get your Shrinkydink on!!

Plucking Daisies Vintage Business Card Holder

I wanted  a business card holder that would stand out.  While frantically searching through my stash for an Altoids tin to alter I found this vintage jewelry box.  Underneath the box I found the Daisy (also vintage).  One of the petals was broken off…just like a freshly plucked daisy!  Perfect!  I glued the daisy to the top of the box and added a mirror to the inside.  Ta-Da!  Business card holder and face checker in one.  We don’t want  spinach in our teeth when handing out business cards now do we?  “It’s Business TIME!!”

Sparkle Daisy Hair Clips

And last but not least…Sparkle Daisy hair clips!  These were a huge hit!  I handed them out during the Martha Stewart Keynote to my table mates and others.  I was hoping Martha would notice how I used pretty much EVERY color from her Glitter line :)  The rest of the flowers were passed out later that evening at Sparklecorn.  It was fun to see a room full of bloggers decked out in sparkles and an accessory from ME…Plucking Daisies!  If you’d like to see how to make these flowers yourself check out this tutorial.

Tomorrow I will have all the details about BlogHer, Sparklecorn and how Katie Couric found my unicorn (True Story)!

Ta ta for now!

Oh my heavens! Your business card holder is stunning!! LOVE the bag charms too. Aren’t Daisies the friendliest flowers? <—- got that from Meg Ryan's quote from You've Got Mail movie. LOL.

The necklace is lovely! I am excited to try gellyroll pens on my shrink film now. Why have I never thought to make a cute business card holder? I am doing a show in Colorado at the end of August. My business cards with be displayed in style. Thanks dear!
