Butterfly Illustration Colored with Copics…for a cause

by Amy Bowerman

Hi all!  I have survived Irene here in CT and managed to not lose power!  I’ve been hunkered down all morning catching up on crafty blogs and challenges and have a few I would like to share with you today.  First up…Two Dresses Studio!  Trudi has some fabulous creations on her site that are truly inspiring!  Even more inspiring is that she has taken on the venture of “The Butterfly Effect”  where she is collecting handmade butterflies for “The Butterfly Project”  hosted by the Holocaust Museum in Houston, Texas.  The mission is to collect 1.5 million handmade butterflies which will be used to create a mural to memorialize the 1.5 million children who were lost in the Holocaust.  You can read all about how to get involved here.  I recently received my Copic certification and am totally hooked on Copic markers!  I’ve just joined the Color Me Creative Challenge group and the challenge this week is “Winged Things”.  Here’s my project….

The Butterfly Effect

This butterfly is near and dear to my heart!  Not only because he is going to be a part of something amazing but also because he is illustrated and colored with Copic Markers based on a real butterfly that has visited my family and I daily all summer!  We have named him “Spot” to read more about him check out this post.  I recently finished another project where I altered a glass table with this Copic Colored Butterfly illustration if you would like to check it out click here.

As soon as things are cleaned up around here (lots of trees down) “Spot” will be flying off to the Holocaust museum to join the others and help spread a message of love!

Thanks for coming by today I’d love to hear your thoughts and comments :)

I stopped by your blog and I had problems leaving a comment. I wanted to tell you how much I loved your Pinata’s they are wonderful. You did an outstanding job making them. The color are so beautiful.
Also thanks for stopping by my blog. I glad you enjoyed the triple easel card. I do like to tell everyone how I make my cards if they are a little different. Your Butterfly is Beautiful. As I already said thanks for joining us at Color Me Creative. Good luck on the challenge.

Hi Laura!
He is made out of white chipboard…I snagged a three color pack for a song at Jo-anns Grey, Black and White forget who makes it but it’s in the scrapbooking aisle…LOVE this stuff and it comes in12X12 sheets so it can stretch awhile…although I am almost out of white and will need to re-up soon! :)
