How’s it going today friends? I’m sitting here at my side table hunched over my computer which was moved from its usual spot in my studio. Ah yes I’m on the East Coast aka “frozen tundra” or “early winter wonderland”. Thank goodness my Dad had the where with all to pick up a generator a few hours before we lost power (Go Dad!!). The power company says power will be out for at least a week…Yikes! Oh well when life hands you lemons make lemonade. In my case I’m going to make art. Here is another piece of wall art I’ve created for the LESSology challenge. Moving day is in a few days and I am so ready to decorate our new home with my creations!
So this is what I came up with for the second canvas…I think it will fit in nicely with the “Mirror, Mirror on the Wall” canvas don’t you? I’ve always loved those “Best Friend” lockets…they remind me of my childhood and of course childhood friends. These days my best friend is my husband. We do EVERYTHING together. He has been such a driving force behind my art work so I thought this piece would be a great way to show my appreciation for all the encouragement.
Like the “Mirror, Mirror” canvas I sketched my design for the lockets directly on the canvas and taped it off. The background was spray painted with Krylon Sky Blue. After taping off the background I used Krylon Metallic silver to paint the lockets. Black and silver Sharpie’s were used for outlining and detailing ( I LOVE me some Sharpie!!) . My up-cycled item is the stars. They were the backings of some dimensional stickers I used on another project. I really loved the assortment of shapes so I saved them and it worked out perfectly to use them as background filler for this project. I love the glossy sheen on the stars which are Mod Podged to the canvas. I went over them with Sparkle Mod Podge for a bit of shimmer and outlined with my favorite Sharpie of all time the silver
Thanks for going off the “wall” me these past few days!
