Hey everyone! Just wanted to get a quick post in before I leave for CHA Create-n-connect. There was a lot of ink flying around the studio while working on my Eileen Hull Sizzix samples. I always keep a tag handy when working on other projects because you never know when a Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2013 tag technique will come into play. You know what they say…”Have ink will make Tim tags with it ”
The theme of my tag is “Be Free”. Ever since school let out I’ve been in a bit of an artistic funk. Between adjusting my schedule and getting bummed out by things going on in the world around me my artistic “get up and go” got up and went!
Nothing renews my creativity like a Tim Holtz Technique. I feel rejuvenated artistically after spending some time getting inky in the studio. All of the things bogging me down have faded away. I truly feel free and if I were a bird I would fly!
My Modifications to Tim Holtz July Tag
This month Tim uses a Brayer to apply ink, (See him in action HERE) I have a brayer and I’m not afraid to use it! What a great way to use up leftover ink! Waste not want not.
I used one of my favorite Hero Arts Stamps to create my background. It pretty much has everything I love in a stamp….birds, sheet music, script. It’s an all in one AWESOME stamp!
Speaking of Stamps, Tim and Mario were kind enough to send me a set of Holiday Mini Blueprint stamps as a prize for my winning tag last month. It just so happened to be a set I had pined for…Thanks guys!!
I used the bird nest stamp and stamped it on Idea-ology frosted film, then used Distress paints, markers and stains to color the image.
Next , I added Idea-ology industrious stickers to create my sentiment. Unfortunately, I ran out of “E’s”. Have no fear, the Stampers Anonymous Mini Cirque alphabet is here and so is my roll of foil tape
I added a touch of color to the raised portion of the metallic letter stickers with Broken China Distress Paint.
As of late I’m OBSESSED with Remnant rubs. I cannot get enough of them! I decided to bring back one of the elements from Tim’s May tag by adding an enameled charm embellished with remnant rubs.
Do you like the winged heart pin? Me too! I sure feel like my creative heart has wings after this project, and this little beauty “ties it all together” beautifully! You can find these heart pins for a birdsong at The Funkie Junkie.
Well that’s it for me until after CHA! If you missed my Sizzix sneak peaks you can check them out HERE. If you will be at the show stop by Eileen Hull’s blog for the schedule of demos and classes in the Sizzix booth and come find us. I won’t be posting next week but I will be sharing pictures on Instagram and Twitter while I’m away. I’ll have lots more to share when I get back.
Let your creative heart fly free today!
