Happy Valentines Day! Hope you are all feeling the LOVE today
I’d like to share some Angry Bird Valentines my son and I made for his Teachers. We wanted to make handmade Valentine’s for the class but ran out of time. Generic Toy Story cards it is I’m afraid kiddies. Does it bother anyone else that the kid Valentine cards no longer come with tiny envelopes? I’ll tell you it really grinds my gears!! Anyway, I’m sure the kids won’t mind receiving love notes from Buzz and Woody but the teachers will be getting these lovely notes featuring Jack’s latest obsession….Angry Birds.
I’m all about reusable cards and these teacher Valentines are no exception. These cards can be used as a bookmark and the Angry Bird altered clothespins can be used for clipping together important papers or displaying artwork or pictures.
Jack was very detail specific while helping me create Angry Birds in their true form. He told me what color feathers to use and was very specific on the color of eyebrows needed to create the “Angry Face”. We used pom poms, googly eyes, scrap ribbon, Fun Foam, tiny feathers, and Distress stickles to create each Angry Bird. The Angry Birds were Hot glued to clothespins and tiny heart buttons were added to complete the Angry Bird Valentine theme.
To make the bookmarks I used some Valentine’s day stamps I grabbed out of the Dollar Bin at Michael’s. The images were stamped and embossed on Core’dinations smooth cardstock with Colorbox Frost ink. I chose white and black to make it look like a chalk board. The background paper is from the DCWV Gradeschool stack. I added ribbons and attached them with Valentines Day brads I had in my stash. This project will be entered in Simon Says Stamp and Show “Anything Goes”.
Speaking of stash…I’ve had this Valentines Day Dog Mailbox in my stash for a few years now (also from DCWV). Jack has never wanted to use it as his Valentines day mailbox….until now. I finally convinced him to use it based on the fact that it looks like our dog Coca. What do you think? Two peas in a pod right?
Well that’s it for me today. I have to deliver these Angry Bird Valentine’s to Jack’s teachers and bring him his puppy dog box to collect his Valentines from friends. Do come back for a visit tomorrow I can’t wait to share the Valentine’s day craft project I will be making with my son’s Kindergarten class today.
Happy Valentine’s Day!!
Amy <3
