Alice in Wonderland Art

by Amy Bowerman

Hello my lovelies!  I had the pleasure of spending the weekend with some wonderful and talented creative ladies at the SNAP! conference.  Some of the girls I had never met before and others I only knew from the blogosphere.  When meeting another creative for the first time the customary introduction is “What kind of art do you do?”  Every time I was asked this question my reply was, “I do a lot of Alice in Wonderland Art.”  This morning as I sipped my coffee and contemplated my next post I realized that indeed I have done a lot of Alice in Wonderland Art yet have never shown it all in one place!

Today I’ll be sharing some of my favorite Alice in Wonderland Art pieces.   I’ve designed for  The Altered Alice for a little over a year now and have accumulated quite a collection of Alice inspired art work.  It’s been a fantastic journey.  Come along with me down the rabbit hole and go back to the beginning…until we get to the end.

I have created many Alice in Wonderland projects over the past year and a half….too many to share in one post.  I’m sharing my favorites today.  A top Ten if you will.  Each project features a step by step tutorial.  I’ve provided links to all my tutorials beneath the pictures so you can create Alice in Wonderland art of your own!

Alice in Wonderland Dresser with Looking Glass

First we have the Alice Dresser.  This is my largest altered art project to date, my masterpiece and my personal favorite project.  Click on the link below for step by step tutorials on how I created each drawer.

I adore this tiny tea-table.  It sits in my living room with a whimsical planter resting upon it.  Click the link for more closeup photos and step by steps.

Alice in Wonderland Miniature Tea Party | Pluckingdaisies.com Wondering where I found such a tiny table setting for Alice and the White rabbit?  Psst….it’s retro Barbie furniture I had as a child.  I may be too big for Barbie and her dream house but you’re never to big to get your altered art on….Alice style!

Alice in Wonderland Altered Tea Pot | Pluckingdaisies.com

My first Design Team project for the Altered Alice was this Altered Tea Set featuring the Mad Tea Party Scene and the March Hare.

Would you believe my Mother  was planning to pitch the copper kettle?  Put the tea-pot down and back away slowly!  All it needs is a little love from wonderland!

Have you ever seen a Mad Hatter on a leaf before?  Stop by and see the rest of his friends from Wonderland and how I immortalized them all on real fall leaves to create a Tree only found in Wonderland!

Alice in Wonderland Cinder Block Garden | Pluckingdaisies.com

You can’t have a proper Alice in Wonderland Garden without an Alice inspired Cinder block garden wall to complement said garden now can you?

Why should the outdoors have all the fun?  You can bring the fun and whimsy of Wonderland into your home with creative planters.  My houseplants are delighted to be “living” in Wonderland.

The tea-pot is near and dear to my heart! The swirling text of “the mouse’s tale” is on the other side :)

That flamingo is just too cute! Living here in Florida, having a plastic flamingo in your yard is mandatory-I think there’s even a law about having one. I need to use your technique on the one we have to make my yard even cuter! Thanks for the inspiration.
